Initial Attack Lat Long Mapping Lesson 2020

  • Incident Information:

  • Location:

    Utah
  • Date:

    07/29/2020
  • Incident Type:

    Multiple
  • Description:

When entering Lat/Long into Google Maps, enter the coordinates without a space and a “-”sign for the longitude.
    Example: “44 12.1234,-111 34.4567”
Notice the comma then negative sign with no space in between. The space in between the degrees and minutes doesn’t have an effect on mapping. This also works with degrees, minutes, seconds, and decimal degrees.
If you put in a space, or don't use a negative sign, you will get driving directions to somewhere in the Eastern
    Hemisphere.
If you remove the space, you can get a really good idea of directions from Google Maps. You still have to pay
some attention because roads may be closed or impassable.
