Description:
On August 12, 2007, during their first day managing the Little Goose Fire, a Type II Incident Management Team faced a critical event. Two fireline supervisors were ordered to retrieve equipment. As they drove to the location, they were alerted by a lookout of fire activity rapidly approaching their location. Trapped by advancing flames blocking their escape routes, they maneuvered their truck in a grassy area for 10 minutes to reduce heat exposure before safely reaching Safety Zone #2. They escaped unharmed, with only minor vehicle damage.
