Description:
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 1415 hours, on the Lucas Incident in Lake County, California, a CAL FIRE Type 3 fire engine was impacted by radiant heat and direct flame. The engine was traveling on a fire access road to the top of a ridge on the incident to support fire suppression efforts. The engine became stuck and could not continue, so personnel evacuated and traveled on foot to a safe location. The engine was a complete loss; there were no injuries to the engine personnel.
