Description:
On July 21, 2022, a Boeing CH-47D helicopter assigned to the Moose Fire crashed into the Salmon River near the Indianola Work Center in Idaho. Numerous firefighters swam across the Salmon River to extract the pilots and provide first aid care; sadly, both pilots, Jared Bird and Thomas Hayes, succumbed to their injuries.
