Tumbledown Fire Sawyer Burn Injury 2021

    On the Tumbledown Fire on the Panhandle National Forest, Idaho, a firefighter from a Wildland Fire Module sustained two minor burns to the lower part of the arm while cutting a hazard tree during line construction activities. Due to the angle of the saw during the back cut, chips and burning debris flew up the firefighter’s shirt sleeve. The patient was transported to the hospital, treated, and released—with the potential for a referral to a local regional hospital.
