    Ruperto Saliz, a section hand for the Western Pacific Railroad was entrapped and killed on a 350 acre fire on the Plumas National Forest. Saliz, 24, was mobilized with about 100 others to fight the fire in the area of Big Bend in the North Fork Feather River canyon. Saliz was apparently entrapped and killed shortly after he arrived at the fire at around 1430, though his body was not found until that evening when a coworker looked for him.
