Description:
On May 16, 2022 six rookie smokejumpers in California boarded the plane for their final rookie training jump. The second person on the third stick (Rookie #6 - jumpers often jump in pairs called a “stick”) brushed a tree on final approach to the jump spot. He was swept off course and he impacted the ground with enough force to break his femur.
