Tillamook Fire Entrapment Fatality 1951

Carlton "Carl" Gerard was found deceased in a roadside ditch along the Old Toll Road in Tillamook County, Oregon, on the first day of fire suppression on a fire in the Tillamook forest area. The location and position of the body indicated that Gerard was entrapped in a fire run and sought refuge in the roadside ditch. In its first burning period the fire ran at least 5 miles. Gerard worked in a sawmill for the Trask Lumber Company.
